Although the United States may have the most prestigious group of poker players in the world, an argument can be presented that the countries in the Scandinavia feature a significant percentage of the poker circuit's elite poker players as well.
To recognize these top poker players from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, PokerStars announced on February 2nd, 2010 that it is once again hosting the 2010 Nordic Poker Awards(previously named the Scandinavian Awards) before the Copenhagen European Poker Tour (EPT) stop on February 15th, 2010.
This year's edition of the Nordic Poker Awards is set to give awards for top performances in the Best Live Tournament Player, Best Performance, Best Online Player and Rookie of the Year categories.
Some of the poker circuit's brightest stars have been nominated in the event including Peter Eastgate, Patrick Antonius, Ilari Sahamies, Ville Wahlbeck, Dag Martin Mikkelsen and Jani Vilmunen.
This year's poker festivities will once again be ecided by a public vote as the Nordic poker community decides which of the thirty nominees will receive the awards.
The committee deciding on the winners consists of Murat "Terrible Turk" Sahan from Poker Magazine, Jasper Paakkonen, Jens Morgensen from Ace Magazine and Kjetil Flaten. Past year's winners include Patrik Antonius, Ilari Sahamies and Peter Eastgate.
